Psychology Quick Start Guide

1. Article Literature

Psychology related articles are indexed in PsycInfo and PsycArticles. Starting your article search in either of these databases will usually yield the best results. However, if you still can't find the right article, click on the Articles Tab to find more places to search.

2. Background Information

Background information can be found using Gale Virtual Reference Library, and this is typically the best place to start you reference search. There are also several books in the library's physical and electronic collection. Click on the Books Tab to search our catalog, and Reference Tab for more ideas.

3. Statistical Information

The World Health Organization and the American Psychological Association are good places to start browsing. You can find links to both of these by clicking on the Websites Tab. Once there, you will find many more places to conitnue your statistical search.

4. Counseling videos

Our Streaming video collections, Academic Video Online Premier and Films on Demand, have actors recreating actual counseling sessions between therapists and patients with a wide variety of diseases and disorders. There are also videos of psych experiments being conducted.
